Father's Day & Six Months

Tucker celebrated his six month birthday yesterday.  With assistance, he likes to stand up and sit up these days.  He is also holding his head up when laid on his back (strong abs!).  Tucker continues to roll around and scoot on his back.  He likes to hang upside sometimes too, like a little baby bat.  Tucker loves to laugh at unexpected sights or funny noises.  He loves to hold conversations, too.  And he continues to be a great shopper.

Our blog started one year ago on Father’s Day.  And I thought it would be fun to revisit some of the information about our Donor Dad.  Even though Tucker looks a lot like me, you can see the resemblance to dad as well.

Our donor dad is 36 years old, 5'9" with blue eyes and blond hair.  He is a smart cookie -- completing an Economics degree with a 3.9 GPA.  He loves outdoor activities including rock climbing, hiking, mountain climbing, backpacking, surfing, and skateboarding.  Our donor is creative as well -- he sings and plays acoustic guitar, and makes mosaics from magazine scraps.  In terms of personality, our donor says he is "extremely animated and sincerely outgoing."  The staff described him having "a very strong, outgoing and cheerful personality.  He is very entertaining".

Our Donor Dad shares some of his philosophy for life: "Life is too short to do things you do not enjoy."  "Live for the day and do what you love."  "Family is important and forever."  I’m very excited that we can contact the Donor Dad in a mere 17 ½ years!

Five Months

Tucker is having an eventful May so far with family visits, Mother's Day, a special party, and turning five months old.  Grandpa Ron, Uncle Shawn, & Aunt Kelly came for Mother's Day weekend.  Tucker was christened in a special baby blessing ceremony at my church, and this was a lovely event for my first Mother's Day.  The video is posted to our youtube channel: http://youtu.be/Oc6BuJREC78

Tucker is a true Texan -- this month he learned a new "bucking bronco" move.  Sometimes he tried to nurse and "buck" his body at the same time -- which is quite a trick!  Tucker has become easily distracted while he is eating.  He hears a bird chirp outside, or a dog sniffle, any sound at all causes him to pop up and look around.  Everyone who meets Tuckers describes him as "very alert".  I'm sure this is an early sign of great intelligence.  :)

Tucker is enjoying playing with toys and with his feet.  He has even started to reach out and pet his Labrador siblings sometimes.  They are happy to lick him in response!  Tucker goes to bed happy, wakes up smiling, and laughs often.  As my dad described "the happiest baby I've ever seen." 

5 months old

Yesterday we went to a big circus themed party for all of the families of the Houston Fertility Institute.  We enjoyed seeing our doctor, Jason Griffith, who helped with little embryo Tucker last year.  What a great job he has -- making dreams come true for families.

Tucker reliably and consistently falls asleep in the car.  Yesterday he was playing with his toy giraffe first -- chewing on him, and making him crinkle.  I was so tickled to discover that Mr Giraffe got tucked under Tucker's chin.  Upside-down and all!

Tuckered Out

Motherhood is a wondrous experience.  I happily serve at the pleasure of Tucker.   I was born to be his mother.
